……in the studio
I’ve had my own studio now for a couple of years and have found it ideal for family photographs, pictures of babies, children, teenagers and adults, anyone really. I work calmly and quickly and keep things light to help put you at ease. I usually photograph against a white background and try to create informal and fun photos, not just the usual smile at the camera photos so please come dressed casually (jeans, t-shirts etc) as this helps to create the right feel. Photo sessions last around an hour maybe less. It really depends on the number of people in your family group, the fewer people the less time it takes. I’m also able to bond easily with children and try and make the session fun for them too.
……on location
I also enjoy working on location in the ‘great outdoors’ and I’m lucky to have my favourite location the New Forest nearby. Photos taken outdoors can be more naturalistic and some clients feel more relaxed being outside. From a photographic point of view, the quality of light in the summer and autumn can be excellent and the colours vibrant.
 …….in the home
I am also happy to take photographs in the client’s home. This makes it easy for you and you’ll probably be more relaxed in your own surrounds. I can take indoor shots or shots in the garden. Group photos or photos of the children doing their own thing work well.
Whatever your preference I am very happy to advise clients on suitable clothing/colours for photo sessions. I also photograph family portraits for special occasions such as birthdays and anniversaries.
Once the photo session is over, I will invite you back to view the photos so you can choose which ones you’d like to buy. I don’t go for the big sell so there’s no pressure on you whatsoever.
